The tablet market is so far a very narrow place, actually presented only by one product – Apple iPad. At the launch there were lots of arguments whether the gadget will be successful and what its major advantages are over a range of other tablets that are numerous. Such conversations were terminated by the breathtaking sales the iPad faced and its success with users in both in the US and abroad. All that can be attributed to the fact that so far there is nothing similar to the iPad in terms of functionality, exterior design, weight and battery life. But there are many people who are desperate to see something else, to have a choice as the iPad does not meet their needs. It turned out that there are quite many people who still view the iPad as an extremely expensive toy splendid for studying, gaming, lazy web-surfing but extremely inappropriate in the working environment.
So, there are lots of people who would like something else. Some other product of the kind which will share the iPad advantages, such as touch interface, 10 hour battery life and be deprived of its shortcomings such as absence of external ports, no multitasking and a very strict policy of a stone-wall environment. In addition, there are lots of people who are not satisfied with the policy proclaimed by Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs who claims that a successful and innovative tablet should not have a stylus. Many people are sure that a pen or its prototype is one of things that distinguish men-like apes from ape-like men. The same ideas are supported by another monster of the information technologies – the former head of Microsoft. To have Bill Gates promoting the idea means there is something in it and users just have to wait a bit and do not fall into the abyss of desperation.
In addition, besides Microsoft there are some other companies that may deliver something of the kind to the market. At least they can make a try.
